Doraville City Mayor, Donna Pitman, spoke in March of her support for Spurs FC's partnership with Doraville City Parks & Rec department.

NEW UNIFORM DEAL FOR SPURS FC
Atlanta Spurs FC signed a new uniform deal during the winter break with Dutch soccer wear company, Stanno. Stanno are very well known in Europe and will provide quality products to Spurs players. SPURS FC PARTNER WITH DORAVILLE CITY PARKS & RECREATION
Doraville's city youth soccer program has linked up with Spurs FC to help develop soccer in and around the city of Doraville. Spurs FC will be working in partnership with the Doraville city parks and recreational department to grow an existing league. Director Paul Smith adds, "Doraville is an area close to our home at Silverbacks Park and that means we are able to share resources. By assisting Doraville develop a strong soccer program we are serving our purpose as a club geared toward community development." Doraville Youth Soccer League starts this March and details will appear on our website.
SPURS FC COACHING ASSIGNMENTS, SPRING 2011
Directors Ted MacDougall and Paul Smith hand pick the staff based on their ability to perform at the highest level. Ex Atlanta Silverbacks pro, Greg Chevalier will direct the u9/10, u11 & u12 Academy along with U.S.S.F "C" licensed coach Jason Thomas. JT will also conduct his licensed SPEED & AGILITY sessions. Other staff coaches in the Academy are ex Spurs FC player, Saxon Venier and newcomer, Alan Taylor.
Assistant Director of Coaching, Paul Smith will continue to coach the u13 boys classic 2. Greg Chevalier will coach the U14 Boys along with Director of Coaching Ted MacDougall. Goalkeepers will continue to be trained by Oglethorpe Universities, Jamie King.
Spurs FC would like to offer it's thanks to Matt Holmes who leaves us after 2 years as Academy Director. Matt will concentrate on developing his Woodward Academy High School program and we wish him all the best for the future. "Matt did a fine job with our Academy and we will miss him. He will always be welcome back at Spurs" said Ted MacDougall.
U17 BOYS HAVE THEIR BEST SEASON EVER!
Our Spurs FC u17 boy's team had an incredible fall 2010! They started the season by winning the Atlanta Cup in September, followed that by clinching promotion to Classic 1. Finally, they won their end of season tournament by beating the competition at the prestigious Nike Cup in December. "We just got better!" said coach, Paul Smith, "every time I thought we had reached our peak, the lads pulled out a better performance. I am very excited to take on classic 1 with this group as they have great character!"
FORMER SPURS PLAYERS IMPRESS AT NCAA COLLEGE LEVEL!
Ex Spurs FC players Josh Choice & Patrick Harris competed in their freshman year of college soccer this past fall. Josh played 11 times for Division 1 outfit Winthrop University and Patrick started every game for Rhodes University and had an assist from the left back position. Director Paul Smith says, "We are proud of these young men and know they represent our club well. Both of them have worked very hard to get to the college level and we hope many more Spurs players will follow their example."
SPURS RENEW SILVERBACKS PARK AGREEMENT THROUGH 2011
Spurs FC secure top class facility, Silverbacks Park, for another year after agreeing to a deal this month. "The deal keeps us at the best fields in Georgia for the foreseeable future, allowing our players the luxury of training even when it rains!" stated Spurs FC, President and DOC Ted MacDougall.

Spurs FC would like to thank GFC for registering our select players for the 2009/2010 Fall and Spring Seasons. The teams coached by Ted MacDougall, Paul Smith and Chuck Hayes have been representing GFC since August. "GFC helped us continue to coach players we had coached for many years and keep existing teams together. We have had a great relationship with GFC and thanks to Ken Flynn and Jason Smith, over 90 players had a place to play." Ted MacDougall.
REGION PREMIER LEAGUE GRANTS U15 GFC SPURS NAME CHANGE FOR FALL 2010
Georgia Soccer Region III Representative Paul White confirmed April 26th that GFC Spurs will become Atlanta Spurs FC at u16 next season. Should the u15 boys, coached by Ted MacDougall, qualify for RPL after state cup, their RPL team name will change to Atlanta Spurs FC. Ted's u15 team are currently Georgia State Champs and will look to defend the title in June.
CASEY OSBOURNE GETS A TASTE OF PROFESSIONAL SOCCER IN ENGLAND
Earlier this year, GFC Spurs u19 boys player Casey Osbourne was invited to England for a dream trial at professional clubs West Ham United of the English Premier League, and Notts County FC of the Coca Cola League Two. West Ham United is one of DOC Ted MacDougall's former clubs and Notts County FC is where assistant DOC Paul Smith played. Casey had a once in a lifetime experience and felt he did well. An opinion in which Notts County Coach, Michael Johnson agrees, "Casey was a credit to US soccer and his club Atlanta Spurs. He showed great energy, work ethic and good technique. We welcome him and any other talented Spurs player to our club in the future." Casey will be a feature on SPURS TV in the coming weeks.
SPURS SOCCER LEAGUE 1ST SEASON A GREAT SUCCESS!
The first å of our recreational league with Boys and Girls club draws to a close this month and we have been excited by the number of new players attracted to our sport. Over 100 Boys and Girls club children have played in the league and have shown great athletic potential. Four lucky players from our league have even been chosen to fly to South Africa for the FIFA 2010 world cup, courtesy of COCA COLA! Spurs FC plans to grow our league to over 300 players by the fall season in September 2010.
